About Vajrapani

Vajrapani, whose name means Holder of the Thunderbolt, is one of the earliest and most powerful bodhisattvas in Mahayana Buddhism. He represents the spiritualstrength and protective power of all Buddhas, standing alongside Avalokitevara and Majur (wisdom) as part of a sacred triad. Vajrapi is often depicted in awrathful form, with a muscular body, a fierce expression, and flames surrounding him, symbolizing his ability to destroy ignorance and obstacles on the path to enlightenment.
