Guru Rinpoche
Guru Rinpoche, also known as Padmasambhava, is a revered tantric master and enlightened being credited with bringing Vajrayana Buddhism to Tibet in the 8th century. Regarded as a manifestation of Amitabha Buddha, he is venerated as a powerful deity who subjugated negative forces and established the Dharma in the Himalayan region. Born miraculously on a lotus in the land of Oddiyana, Guru Rinpoche embodies the union of wisdom and compassion, and his teachings form the foundation of many Tibetan Buddhist lineages, especially the Nyingma school. In iconography, he is depicted in majestic attire, holding a vajra and skull cup, with a trident staff (khatvanga) symbolizing his mastery of the tantric path.
