Vajrasattva
Vajrasattva, whose name means Diamond Being or Thunderbolt Being, is a central figure in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism, revered as the embodiment of purity and the ideal of spiritual cleansing. He is often depicted as a radiant white deity seated in meditation, holding a vajra (symbol of indestructible truth) in his right hand and a bell (symbol of wisdom) in his left, representing the union of method and insight. Vajrasattva is closely associated with the sambhogakaya, the bliss-body of enlightenment, and is invoked in purification practices to cleanse negative karma and obscurations that hinder spiritual progress. His most famous mantra, the Hundred Syllable Mantra, is recited to purify broken vows and mental defilements, and is a foundational practice in Tibetan Buddhisms preliminary teachings known as Ngndro.
